Sustainable public procurement of food

Sustain is running a campaign called 'Good food for our money', which is calling for legislation in England to set standards for public sector food so that it is healthy, good for the environment and invests in local and sustainable suppliers. They have produced a factsheet explaining how the EU Public Procurement Directive supports sustainable procurement. OCW's organic supply chain, BOBL, is working with the Welsh Assembly Government to support sustainable procurement for school meals.
Meanwhile, Zac Goldsmith MP is calling for the public sector to buy organic and local food. See Organic Monitor
