Managing P and K

While organic farmers find it relatively easy to build up sufficient nitrogen in their soils through biological cycles, ensuring good levels of P and K in this way is much more difficult and many producers have to use permitted fertilisers to stay productive. There are, in fact, large amounts of both nutrients present in soil but the vast majority is unavailable to the crop.

OCW have recently produced a factsheet which explains how to make the best of the P and K in your soils through balanced rotations, promoting soil life, maintaining good soil structure and optimal moisture levels and getting the pH right. Download factsheet.
