Risk Assessment seminars for edible crop growers

Government and retailers are continually striving to minimise the risk of microbial contamination of fresh produce. The HDC and FSA have jointly funded a package of work to help growers achieve this, including a recent factsheet and development of web-based risk assessment tools which deal with water use, manure/composted manure inputs and worker hygiene.

Nine half-day seminars are being run across the United Kingdom which will inform growers of the best practice approach to risk assessment and microbial testing of crop inputs. They will also provide practical training on how to use the web-based tools. The dates and venues in or close to Wales are:

27 October, Pershore College, Avonbank, Peshore, Worcestershire, WR10 3JP
28 October, Coleg Sir Gar, Ammanford Campus, Dyffryn Road, Ammanford, SA18 3TA, Wales
5 November, Harper Adams University College, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8NB

There are 20 places available at each workshop, which run from 10.30 am until 1.30 pm (Belfast 11-2.30). Attendance is free of charge but places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend tel: 02476 478661 within five working days of each event.
