Care farming initiative
The Institute of Rural Health (IRH) has launched a new drive to encourage farmers and landowners to develop care farming projects. This means using farming and horticultural practices for therapeutic purposes, for instance to benefit people with learning difficulties. Care farming is well established in England and there are a few examples of care farming in Wales, including one at Clynfyw, an organic farm in Pembrokeshire. For more information, contact
of the IRH. Farmers who are interested in the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme, which now includes a unit on care farming, should contact OCW.
