How is your grass growing?

The Grassland Development Centre held an event on 25 August 2011 at Middle Garth, an organic farm near Newtown, to look at ways of measuring grass.

Farmer Andrew Owen said: "I am keen to work with GDC and put the science behind improving grass use into practice. I have already seen that by not grazing too low the grass grows back more quickly and as I sell some grass seed I would like to be able to show other farmers the benefits to the animal of grazing young high quality grass, and highlight that it will help maintain sward quality for longer.
