Food and farming advisory panel

The Welsh Government has set up a new Food and Farming advisory panel reflecting the place of food and farming as one of the three recently-announced priority sectors for economic growth and job creation in Wales. The chair will be Dr Haydn Edwards, the former principal and chief executive of Coleg Menai and chair of the old Food and Drink Advisory Partnership (FDAP). The members are: Heather Jenkins, Waitrose; Professor Kevin Morgan, Cardiff University; Ieuan Edwards, Edwards of Conwy Ltd, and the Traditional Welsh Sausage Company; Sue Evans, Wales CLA; Dai Davies, Hybu Cig Cymru; Simon Wright, chef and journalist; Melanie Leech, Food and Drink Federation; Mary James, NFU Cymru; and Nick Fenwick, Farmers Union of Wales.

The agri-food partnership sector strategy groups, which includes the Organic Strategy Group, have had their last formal meetings but some of the groups are hoping to keep going without Welsh Government support.
