Postgraduate programme in Organic Farming at SRUC

SRUC's (formerly SAC) postgraduate programme in Organic Farming continues to recruit students from around the UK and Europe. By offering this programme on a part time distance learning basis, we attract students who already have other commitments, be that work, family, or both. Because we consider each application on its own merit, our student groups contain a broad mix of age, qualifications and experience. Some students are already practitioners in the organic sector, and others are from a variety of backgrounds but with a shared interest in learning more about organics and sustainable food production. The programme combines home study with residential weekends at our Aberdeen Craibstone campus, thus complementing online learning material with face to face teaching sessions, visits to local farms and businesses, and talks from visiting practitioners or other specialists.

A former student said “The Organic Farming course gave me a deeper understanding of agriculture and of organic production and food processing, but I gained more than a post-graduate qualification from a highly respected institution, making many good friends and business contacts during my years of study”.

The course starts each year in September, and applications are accepted throughout the year.
