Developing the supply of organic pullets in Wales

Organic Centre Wales has been helping to tackle this issue using resources from the new 'Better Organic Business Links' project and the Farming Connect Organic Development Programme. We assessed the current and short - medium term demand for organic pullets in Wales, provided estimates of capital investment requirements and gross margins, and organised open days on practical pullet rearing techniques and management issues. You can download a summary of the results from here.

Tony Little, who managed the project at OCW said 'I am very pleased with the end result. It has helped to the profile of issue, and a number of producers are now looking seriously at rearing organic pullets, either for their own use or to supply other producers and we will continue to support them in this work.' For more information, or a printed version of the report contact Tony on 01970 621632.
