School visits training course (CEVAS) near Brecon, 16/30 April

Are you a farmer who is interested in hosting school visits? Or do you work for an organization that runs countryside visits for schools? The Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS) includes health and safety, links to the school curriculum and communicating with young people, leading to a recognized qualification. Over 1000 people in England and 60 in Wales have already been accredited. With growing support from the Assembly for the 'outdoor classroom' and food education, here is a valuable opportunity to gain skills in connecting with the public.

FACE Wales is organizing a 2-day CEVAS course at Penpont, Brecon, in April 2010. The course lasts for two days, 16 and 30 April, starting at 9.30am and finishing around 4pm. The cost is £95 + VAT, but if you are a farmer you may be eligible for 80% financial support from Farming Connect – call 08456 000813 to register and apply for funding before booking a place. Financial support may also be available to learners on a low income from the YMCA Wales Community College's Financial Contingency Fund.

The course will be delivered in English, but course materials will be provided in both languages and you are welcome to complete your portfolio in Welsh with bilingual tutor support.
