Care farming - a new opportunity?

A report of a conference organized by the National Care Farming Initiative at Harper Adams in September 2010 is now available at

Care farms use farming practices to provide therapeutic support to people with special needs. Clients include young people with autism, adults with mental health problems, addicts and young offenders. There are a number of care farms in Wales already and as the movement grows, there may be opportunities for other farms to diversify.

An introductory one-day course on care farming is now available as part of CEVAS (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) and FACE/OCW will run it in early 2011 if there is demand. Please contact .
