Growing the Future

Since 2005, Organic Centre Wales has been working with a partnership of organizations, farms and individuals around Wales to make more use of organic and local food in school meals and education.Children looking at vegetables

We are now working with the Welsh Government to develop food education so that all children have access to food grown locally and sustainably, and learn where their food comes from by gardening and farm visits. We are also working on school meals.

OCW is part of the RCE Food Working Group which in May 2011 published a discussion paper on food in Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship:

Transformative education and food: thoughts from Wales (PDF)
