New grassland adviser

The Grassland Development Centre at IBERS are delighted to welcome Sue Buckingham to the team. Based near the Welsh border, Sue will be working across all sectors contributing to the GDC team delivery in England and Wales. She has good practical farming experience combined with an excellent academic and sound advisory background, with a special interest in dairy and agri-environment issues.

Sue comes from a farming background and was formerly an ADAS advisor specializing in dairy, business management and grassland advice. She developed an interest in agri-environment schemes as a means of optimizing both the production and environmental potential of farms during her policy work with the Welsh Assembly government, and more recently with the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust.

Heather McCalman, manager of the Grassland Development Centre, said: “Sue is ideally suited to the post. She is keen to get farmers involved in making the most of recent research work at IBERS and help solve some of the challenges facing farmers today”.
