The Savari Research Trust (SRT) needs an experienced potato grower, with their own storage and grading facilities, to grow c8 acres of high grade seed potatoes.
The Trust is a not-for-profit company based near Bangor in North Wales which breeds blight resistant ‘Sárpo’ varieties of potatoes.
David Shaw, the Director said ‘We have developed some great varieites, but we need to work with growers to produce the seed in commercial quantities.’
Growers can work on a pay per acre basis or on a buy-back contract where the Trust buys back all 35/55mm seed produced. All costs of cultivation, grading, storage etc are borne by the grower, while all costs and admin relating to certification of the crop are picked up by SRT.
Some of the input seed (supplied by SRT) will be conventional but a derogation should be easily attainable. For further details contact
