Organic action plans![]() Organic action plans build on the idea that it is possible to influence the development of organic food and farming through policy in a strategic framework. The first Welsh organic action plan was prepared by the Welsh Agri-Food Partnership in 1999 (see The Welsh Organic Food Sector: A strategic action plan, available from OCW), with a target of 10% of the Welsh agricultural sector to be organic by 2005. With support from OCW, the Organic Strategy Group produced a second Welsh Organic Action Plan in 2004. This Plan focused more on developing the market for organic products, so that an increased land area target is pursued in the context of market development. This action plan came to an end, and with it the Welsh Government’s Organic Strategy Group, in 2010. See our history of support for organic farming in Wales on this website.
