Policy makers and producers attend event to ‘build the future for organics in Wales’

Organic Centre Wales, producers and policy makers joined together at the Royal Welsh Show to share experiences of the ‘old’ Welsh organic farming scheme and discuss what they would like to see included in any new proposals. The seminar ‘Building a future for organic farming in Wales’ was led by Professor Nic Lampkin and was well attended by producers and representatives from Welsh Government. Focussing on recent stakeholder discussions that have taken place within the organic sector the afternoon was a chance for producers to comment on the views collected so far.

In addition to our seminar we hosted individual ‘one to one’ discussions in the Countryside Care area. The OCW team were kept busy discussing the future of organic payment schemes with producers attending the show and were encouraged to receive a high number of useful and constructive insights.

Building on the success of this event, Organic Centre Wales anticipates organising a series of regional workshops in November and details of which will be made available in our events section.
