The BOBL project is designed to support the primary producer in Wales and grow the market for Welsh organic produce in a sustainable way. The project will develop new, emerging and existing markets for organic produce whilst driving innovation, at all levels, within the supply chain.
Attitude survey: The invitation to tender has generated a great deal of interest and short-listed companies have been invited to interview. The start date of the contract is the first of March and completion is scheduled for the end of May.
Biofach fact-finding: A small delegation attended the Biofach organic exhibition in Nuremberg. Contact was made with other exhibitors from Britain and relevant experts including some from the textiles sector. A report summarising the conclusions of the visit and making recommendations on a strategy for attending international exhibitions has been drafted.
PR Tender: A brief is being prepared for the selection and appointment of a specialist company to help develop key messages and implement a communications strategy. The strategy will integrate with and build on the Organic UK campaign and the findings of the Consumer Attitude survey.
Support for organic businesses: The project includes delivery of more support for organic producers who want to add value to their products and/or are looking for new routes to market, particularly via multiple retailers. Producers interested in achieving this should email

Market intelligence: Reports on the dairy, red meat and tourism sectors are currently being reviewed and final drafts will be presented for sign-off shortly. The summary and conclusions will be circulated widely. Reports on the horticulture and the arable market, which will include a review of the market for pig and poultry products, have been commissioned.
Pullets report: Reports have been prepared on a number of other projects. A report and follow-up seminar on organic pullet production has made significant progress in addressing the need for increasing production.
