Glastir Organic Glastir Organic was one of the first of the new Schemes to be introduced as part of the new RDP for Wales 2014 – 2020. Following an application window in October 2014, 467 agreements were signed representing a total of 65,511 ha. Of this, 52,831 ha are supported by maintenance payments, which are to say it was already fully certified as organic at the start of the agreement, while the remaining 8,230 ha is in conversion. Glastir Entry and AdvancedGlastir Entry (previously Glastir All-Wales) is a whole farm land management scheme open to application from all farmers and land managers throughout Wales. It is designed to provide support for the delivery of environmental benefits that meet today’s challenges and priorities. Successful applicants will make a commitment to deliver environmental goods for five years under a legally binding contract. Glastir Advanced (previously called Targeted Element) is a part farm scheme which will run alongside Glastir Entry. It is intended to deliver significant improvements to the environmental status of a range of habitats, species, soils and water. This may require changes to current agricultural practices. Financial support from the Welsh Government will be targeted at locations where action will lead to the required result. Common Land Element provides support for the delivery of environmental benefits on common land. Glastir Woodlands provides support for land managers who wish to create new woodland and/or manage existing woodlands.
