RDP axes 3 and 4: your opportunity to get a project off the groundThe 18 new local partnerships around Wales were given the go-ahead in July 2007 to prepare their business plans for the three-year period 2008-2010. The funding comes from Axis 3 and 4 of the rural development plan for Wales, 2007-2013, which includes up to £103 million in support for activities relating to local food and agri-environmental initiatives, tourism, training and skills, rural heritage and much more besides. To be included, projects have to be consistent with local strategies. Find out more …. What are Axes 3 and 4? Axes 3 and 4 are targeted at rural development projects co-ordinated by local partnerships in Wales, as follows: AXIS 3 (rural diversification) • Business creation and development • Encouragement of tourism activities • Basic services for the economy and rural population • Village renewal and development • Conservation and upgrading of the rural heritage • Training and information • Skills acquisition, animation and implementation of local development strategies AXIS 4 (Leader – local initiatives) • Implementing local development strategies: competitiveness (piloting / testing of Axis 1 measures) • Implementing local development strategies: environment/land management (piloting / testing of Axis 2 measures) • Implementing local development strategies: quality of life/diversification (piloting / testing of Axis 3 measures) • Implementing cooperation projects • Running the local action group, acquiring skills and animating the territory as referred in article 59 of 1698/2005 Full details of the RDP Axis 3 and 4 proposals, which were used as guidance in preparation of local strategies, as well as contact details for local action groups, can be found on the Welsh Assembly Government’s RDP pages here.
